Must have a Bachelor's degree with a minimum 2.2 or greater cumulative GPA at time degree is awarded.

STEP 1 - Apply for teaching positions with 91暗网 -

STEP 2 - Be recommended for a teaching position

STEP 3 - Work with HR Certification Specialist to complete a Temporary Authority to Teach (TAT) Ceritification Application to be submitted by the district to the Louisiana Department of Education

STEP 4 - Schedule and take required PRAXIS exam(s). Find the proper exams .

STEP 5 - Enroll and complete an Alternate Teacher Certification Program. Find approved programs

STEP 6 - Work with your Alternate Teacher Certification Program Provider to be issued a Practitioner License (PL) or Level 1 (L1) Teaching Certificate

Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED

STEP 1 - Apply for a Paraprofessional (teaching assistant) position with 91暗网 - . 

STEP 2 - Be recommended for a Paraprofessional (teaching assistant) position

STEP 3 - Once hired into a Paraprofessional position, apply and begin working on a Bachelors degree via REACH University -

STEP 4 - When a Bachelors degree with a 2.2 GPA or greater is earned, begin applying for teacher positions within Rapides Parish

Minimum Requirements to work as a Paraprofessional are as follows:

A - Transcript or diploma demonstrating graduation from High School or completion of a GED
AND ONE OF THE FOLLOWING . . . 

*Official transcript for a 2 yrs. (Associates) or 4 yr. (Bachelor's degree

OR

*Official transcript showing successful completion of 48 college credit hours including completion of 3 ENGLISH and 2 MATH courses

OR

*Parapro Exam Result with score of 450 or greater

STEP 2 - Be recommended for a Paraprofessional (teaching assistant) position 

STEP 1 - Register to take the exam

**TIP - fastest local location to take the Parapro test has been proven to be at the Prometric Testing Center housed in the Student Center on the LSUA Campus - look for testing site CODE APCN-1313 - it will only show Alexandria, LA as the Test Center and will not say LSUA on the registration website

STEP 2 - Upload your passing score report (score of 450 or better) to your application online and 91暗网 to the appropriate Principal AND Human Resources if you have already been recommended for a Paraprofessional position

STEP 1 - Determine which test(s) are required to be taken relative to the area of teacher certification you are working towards by looking .

**TIP - Verify PRAXIS testing requirements with your Academic Advisor if you are enrolled in an Alternate Teaching Certification Program

STEP 3 -  Be fingerprinted every 3 years.
